How a political party and Paid Media can support Terrorists

by Suresh Kochattil

How a political party and paid media can support terrorists and compromise the security of the nation is best exemplified by Congress and it’s affiliate CongressBureau of Investigation (CBI). The latest flip flop by CBI is in the so called Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case. After having used every media vehicle, including news television channels with selective leaks by CBI that Amit Shah and thereby Narendra Modi was involved, news is coming in that the case is close to collapse.
For those who came in late, the Ishrat Jahan encounter case involved encounter killings of Ishrat Jahan Raza, a 19-year old girl from Mumbai, and three men: Javed Gulam Sheikh, Amjad Ali Rana and Zeeshan Johar by officers of the Ahmedabad Police Crime Branch. The encounter was carried out allegedly by a team led by DIG D.G. Vanjara. CBI declared the encounter as staged but offered no proof.
In 2004, a Lahore-based publication affiliated with LeT claimed that Ishrat and her companions were operatives. In 2010, some media outlets  reported that the convicted terrorist David Headley had implicated Ishrat in terrorist activities in a statement given to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). In June 2013, the Intelligence Bureau chief Asif Ibrahim told the office of Prime Minister and Home Minister of India that the Bureau had enough evidence to prove that Ishrat was a part of an LeT module which planned to kill Narendra Modi and Lal Krishna Advani.
Ishrat was close to Pranesh Pillai, a native of Noornad in Kerala. He had migrated to Mumbai in search of a job and had been booked for four assaultcases in Mumbai and Pune, and had also been charged with involvement in a fake currency racket. In the mid-1990s, he converted to Islam and changed his name to Javed Sheikh to marry a Muslim woman called Sajida. Gujarat Police recovered two passports from Javed: one obtained using his original name Pranesh and the second one in his new name.
The third person killed was Amjad Ali Rana, an LeT terrorist from Haveli Diwan, Pakistan and is believed to have met Javed several times in Oman. The fourth person who was killed was Zeeshan was said to have been caught in a trespassing case in Srinagar in 2003. Strangely, nobody claimed the bodies of Amjad and Zeeshan after the encounter.
Here are some questions for CBI
1. What was Ishart Jahan doing with three men for over days, travelling across states?
2. Why did her family allow her to travel with these unknown men and why did they not complain to the police that she was missing?
3. Why is the CBI not confirming the role of Javed Shaikh, an Indian in the group ? What was he doing with two Pakistani terrorists?
4. Why is the CBI not telling the court who Amjad Ali Rana and Zeeshan Johar are and where they hailed from?
5. Why is the CBI not insisting on what David Cleman Headly told CIA about Ishart Jahan ? CBI says and the NIA say that the entire thing is a heresay. Can the CIA then confirm this?
After dithering for over a year, on 21 February 2013 CBI arrested Gujarat IPS officer G L Singhal who was then Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Branch at the time of the incident. CBI in its FIR alleged that Singhal, played an active role in the encounter which was later found to be fake by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Gujarat High Court.
Surprisingly the CBI did not file a chargesheet against Singhal and he was released on bail. There was quid pro-quo deal as CBI did with former Gujarat DG Sreekumar. In the months to follow, Singhal along with Prashant Bhushan of AAP and Anirudha Bahal of Cobra Post claimed that Amit Shah conducted a snoop on a lady from Gujarat across two states and tried to link Mr Modi to it.
Now the pieces are all falling into place. Congress - CBI - Pakistani Terrorist group LET - Tehelka - Cobra Post - Prashant Bhushan of Aam Admi party (who wants to give Kashmir to Pakistan) are involved in this mission with a single aim, target: Narendra Modi. What the terrorists could not do, the Congress tried – and failed, miserably.

The Paid Media and its Dharma

By Dr. Subramanian Swamy
The Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi and 22 others have been acquitted in the 2004 murder case.
-------------Hindu saints and symbols are under the global attack by the hostile forces, which are inimical to Hindu culture and IndianCivilization.
This Congress government under an Italian Roman Catholic Sonia Maino Antonia aka Sonia Gandhi is felicitating Christian Missionaries and CIA backed NGOs to create hostile environment in India, which is empowering the #BreakingIndia separatist forces.

Indian Media provides an intellectual and propaganda cover to these enemy forces, all funded and controlled by the CIA and Church Missionaries. The Indian Left and Congress provides them political cover, so NO Nationalist voices can reach the en-mass public domain and hence a total subjugation of truth and Hindu mindset.

Under the last 10 years of Congress led UPA Govt has managed to spread the CIA funded NGOs network all over the India, without being exposed to the general public as per say. Their network is so strong that they can trigger any big protest and demonstration or Movement anywhere in the country and hence cripple the entire project or nationalistic policies, e.g. Kudankulam Nuclear Plant protest in Tamil Nadu, Sardar Sarovar Dam on Narmada river front in Gujarat, Feminist Movements, LGBT (gay #377) protest movement, and many other CIA-Ford Foundation funded projects.

People should themselves need to connect the dots and read more about the 'Joshua Project'.

Read 'Breaking India' book by Rajiv Malhotra.

GIVE IT TO YOUR KIDS !! by Bill Gates

GIVE IT TO YOUR KIDS !!..Read and Share

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2: The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it’s not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters.. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel and Jawahar Lal Nehru

by Suresh Kochattil

In today's war of words between Congress and BJP we need to understand the truth of how Sardar was treated by Nehru and his cronies. That there was no love lost between Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel was evident from historical records and personal anecdotes. Compared to Sardar's towering personality, Nehru was a pygmy.
Records show that the Sardar who was then then Deputy Prime Mnister and Home Minister was insulted, humiliated and disgraced by the then Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, during a Cabinet meeting. “You are a complete communalist and I’ll never be a party to your suggestions and proposals,” Nehru shouted at Patel during a crucial Cabinet meeting to discuss the liberation of Hyderabad by the Army from the tyranny of the Razakkars, the then Nizam’s private army.
“A shocked Sardar Patel collected his papers from the table and slowly walked out of the Cabinet room. That was the last time Patel attended a Cabinet meeting. He also stopped speaking to Nehru since then,” writes MKK Nair, a 1947 batch IAS officer, in his memoirs “With No Ill Feeling to Anybody”. Nair had close ties with both Sardar and VP Menon, his Man Friday.
When Sardar died in Bombay on 15th Dec 1950, Nehru showed his true colours. In his book ‘India from Curzon to Nehru and afterwards’ Durgadas, speaks of how Nehru went on to President Rajendra Prasad advised him against participation in Sardar’s funeral. President Prasad told Nehru to mind his own business and he did not need his advise.
Immediately after he got the news about Sardar Patel’s death, Nehru sent two notes to the Ministry of States. The notes reached VP Menon, the then Secretary to the Ministry. In one of the notes, Nehru had asked Menon to send the official Cadillac car used by Sardar Patel to the former’s office. The second note was shocking. Nehru wanted government secretaries desirous of attending Sardar Patel’s last rites to do so at their own personal expenses.
But Menon convened a meeting of all secretaries and asked them to furnish the names of those who want to attend the last rites of Patel. He did not mention anything about the note sent by Nehru. Menon paid the entire cost of the air tickets for those secretaries who expressed their wish to attend Sardar’s last journey. This further infuriated Nehru.
I can write more, but the moot point is that Nehru was a disaster and he hated the fact that he was a nobody in front of Sardar. You can call it inferiority complex or by any other name.

Communal Violence Bill : Flaws and Implications

Communal Violence Bill - Presentation at CIPL, Dec ’11
Presentation Transcript
1. On the Implications of the Communal Violence Bill Shantanu Bhagwat 24th December ’11 Chanakya Institute of Public LeadershipSatyameva-Jayate.org 1

2. Background/ Reasons To protect the “minorities” “A polity which is just, fair and equitable needs to protect the weaker sections, minorities, SCs and STs” – Hon Sh Kapil Sibal Is the way to achieve this ad-hoc laws or an efficient judicial system? To correct “systemic bias in the administrative & criminal justice machinery against disadvantaged groups” – John Dayal What is the basis of this assertion? Can a “systemic bias” be really corrected with a law? 2Satyameva-Jayate.org Source: Communal Violence Bill divides society by Prof Hilda Raja

3. Background/ Reasons Unstated underlying assumption that the majority community are the perpetrators of violence in case of communal clashes Contrary to facts?* In a study of 74 communal riots between 1953 – 1977 in Gujarat and Rajasthan, 75 per cent were found to have been instigated by wayward members of the minority community This study was done by a member of the “minority” community, Ms Zenab Banu (Politics of Communalism: a Politico-historical Analysis of Communal Riots in post- Independence India with Special Reference to the Gujarat and Rajasthan Riots (1989)) 3Satyameva-Jayate.org Source: Communal Violence Bill divides society by Prof Hilda Raja

4. The Motives Who is this meant for? Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes already have a full- fledged Commission with powers of civil courts to take care of their problems Linguistic Minorities? Even though one of the conclusions of the Ranganath Misra commission was that their situation differs from state to state ..and that they are neither a caste, class or a religious community “…assistance in identification and reburial of the bodies in accordance with the cultural practices of the families and communities*” (at Pg 50, under “Guarantee of non-repetition”) A pathetic vote-pulling tactic? 4Satyameva-Jayate.org Source: http://blog.offstumped.in/2011/05/26/nacs-draft-communal-violence-bill-an-analysis/

5. Fundamental Flaws Under clause 73, presumption of guilt unless proven to the contrary* All offences cognisable and non-bailable (clause 58) The special public prosecutor to conduct proceedings under this act shall not act in aid of truth but ‘in the interest of the victim’ Communal and targeted violence means violence which destroys the ‘secular fabric of the nation’ No definition of “secular fabric” Creation of an over-arching institution (complete with communal quota) with draconian powers Right to enter properties (clause 33[4]), control “media content” (clause 8 and 67[1]), inquire into the conduct of the armed forces “more powerful than any authority created since adoption of Constitution in 1950” – John Dayal 5Satyameva-Jayate.org * Sources: Swapan Dasgupta in The Pioneer; Sh Arun Jaitley in Rediff

6. The Implications Frighteningly broad-based Sweeping in scope Even crimes that may have nothing to do with religion are now being sought to be defined on communal grounds (e.g. sexual offences) Similarly A shopkeeper or a businessman from the minority community can always allege that his partners from the majority community have cheated him because of his community and religion and the law will have to take notice of his complaint. Under Clause 14, office bearers of organisations will be held responsible for any offence committed wittingly or unwittingly by a member of the organisation And ambiguous.. Can a Hindu criticize burqa without worrying about being sued under this law on charges of spreading hate? Can a Hindu landlord be charged with "depriving place of living“ (under Article 3(F)) if he asks his Muslim tenant to vacate? 6Satyameva-Jayate.org Source: “Hole in the Bucket” Prof Rakesh Sinha, India Policy Foundation

7. The Implications Section 120 makes it almost impossible for state administrations to demolish illegal Muslim or Christian religious structures Lop-sided “Attempt to spread hatred and tension” one-sided; If “minorities” make such attempts, they will not be considered offensive under the new law Permanent “victimhood” According to the Bill the “victim” will under all circumstances belong to the minority community in case of riots/ violence No member of the majority community can ever be a “victim” Conversely, no member of the “minority” community can ever be charged under this draconian law 7Satyameva-Jayate.org Source: “Hole in the Bucket” Prof Rakesh Sinha, India Policy Foundation

8. The Implications The section 2 (6) of the Bill says that the punishment under this Bill would be separate and in addition to the SC and ST Prevention of Atrocities Act 1989 Does this mean that an offence would be dealt with under two legal and criminal laws and procedures and that there would be two kinds of punishment for the same crime? Against federal structure; Interference in state affairs This bill - if passed into law - will allow the Centre to interfere in cases of communal violence even though they are primarily a matter of law and order (and thus under State jurisdiction) From an implicit assumption of bias it is a short distance to an explicit statement about the incompatibility between a “minority” and majority. What happens then? 8Satyameva-Jayate.org Source: “Hole in the Bucket” Prof Rakesh Sinha, India Policy Foundation

9. Concluding Points Not just a flawed bill but positively dangerous The psychological partition of India Deepening of existing fault lines Further alienation ..and another dent in the edifice of a national identity In extremis, further disintegration of the Union 9Satyameva-Jayate.org Source: “Hole in the Bucket” Prof Rakesh Sinha, India Policy Foundation

10. Questions? Comments? Jai Hind, Jai Bharat! Shantanu @ Satyameva-Jayate.org 10Satyameva-Jayate.org

The Communal Violence Bill

By Dr Subrahmanian Swamy

Minority institutions including Jemait-e-Ulema are forcing congress for passing this bill. Congress wants this bill to win 2014 election with 'minority' votes.
Salient features of The Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill- PCTV Bill :-

1) Based on the presumption that all Hindus are criminals and rioters. This law can be invoked only against Hindus by minorities. (the bill defines Muslims, Christians etc. as “the minority Group” in (sec 3.e))

2) Merely a complaint will be sufficient to file a FIR and the Hindu against whom the complaint is made will be immediately arrested and assumed guilty UNLESS PROVEN otherwise (In normal criminal procedure, an accused is assumed innocent unless proven guilty);

3) All crimes under this Bill are cognizable and non-bailable [Clause 56 of may 2011 version];

4) It can trigger a new wave of extortion by minority groups against Hindus, the majority of whom are the working and business class. This will have colossal negative repercussions for the Indian economy.

5) Section 129 states that for prosecution of offences under Sec 9 there will be no limitation of time. It means a 'Minority' can reopen all cases against Hindus, all past cases right from 1950 onwards.

6) Under Sec. 42, A minority witness giving false statement before National authority CANNOT be prosecuted for giving FALSE evidence against a Hindu.
_______________________________________

Summary ?
Just like Pakistan, Bangladesh or Kashmir.,
Hindus will be left with 3 options:
(i) Convert
(ii) Flee
(iii) Suffer entire life

Choose.

Dr.Abdul Kalam’s Letter to Every Indian

Dr.Abdul Kalam’s Letter to Every Indian
(Why is the media here so negative?)

Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why?
We are the first in milk production.
We are number one in Remote sensing satellites.
We are the second largest producer of wheat.
We are the second largest producer of rice.

Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters. I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news.

APJ Abdul Kalam at Speech1In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime.. Why are we so NEGATIVE? Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things? We want foreign T.Vs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology.

Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India . For her, you and I will have to build this developed India . You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation.

Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance.
Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours..

YOU say that our government is inefficient.
YOU say that our laws are too old.
YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.
YOU say that the phones don’t work, the railways are a joke. The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.
YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.
YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it?

APJ Abdul Kalam at Speech2In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan .. Will the Indian citizen do that here?’ He’s right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility.

We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms.
We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity.
This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public.
APJ Abdul Kalam Wings of fireWhen it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child! and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? ‘It’s the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons’ rights to a dowry.’ So who’s going to change the system?

What does a system consist of? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and the government. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr.Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away.

Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England . When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money.

Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one’s conscience too…. I am echoing J. F. Kennedy’s words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians…..

‘ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY’

Lets do what India needs from us.
Thank you,
Dr.. Abdul Kalam

The War Of Propaganda

THE WAR OF PROPAGANDA: The war is already there in place".
The war in propaganda".. daily we read many articles, from India and abroad...often they give incorrect facts, but completely misleading propaganda, The Sikh's systematic massacre of 1984 is given name of Riot,.. there seem complete memory loss as no Riot come to the mind of propagandists, other than 2002,... economy totally forgotten long back, nose diving Rupee and Sen-sex is no more sexy,... a leader sidelines her Son in Law as private businessman and PMO hides his SCAM information as "Classified" and confidential,...one officer is supported for acting "legally" but the other suppressed but silently... Leader are old enough unable to look to borders, eye sight problem....completely unable to identify dead soldiers, army and terrorists, completely unable to recall what they said in the morning and change the statement in the evening, unable to identify who is with the terrorists, some of the leaders have lost their sense of judgement even family relationships...... call a companion of Terrorists as "daughter of Bihar" but forget to explain why they handed over their daughter to terrorists to live with without marriage....what we see to totally mad propaganda which is so unprofessional, as it comes as propaganda at first sight...that is why the keep reshuffling their mouthpieces and paid media anchors, ..but nothing to worry , only caution is needed so that we are not carried away by propaganda and start believing it as truth and become puppet of these propagandists....

A MUST WATCH VIDEO~ IAS Durga - Independence Day Special!

A MUST WATCH VIDEO~
IAS Durga - Independence Day Special!
IAS MEANS I AM SORRY

Crime, Corruption and Unethical practices have become  rampant and so immersed in the day to day behaviour of Governments and authorities that it has become impossible to think otherwise. If one is honest, is odd man out and the principle of "Survival of the Fittest", under current situation,  makes him the weakest.
This clip clarifies beautifully that it is not the "work" but "NetWork" that matters and those not in that NetWork and bound to suffer as the young IAS officer Durga, Senior IAS officer Khemka and many other have been suffering.
But a note of  "Serious Caution" must also be made that the said NetWork has been created by the "Politician-Bureaucrats-Media" Nexus...enjoy the clip.

India: Vote Bank Matters

Read carefully again and again, and understand!

Reasons why Congress is winning for the past 65 years and why it will win in the future:
( A View Point)

Currently, on an average (over states) there are:
15% Muslims, 8% Christians, 7% Others and 70% Hindus.
That is:
out of 100 people, there are 70 Hindus, 8 Christians, 15 Muslims and 7 Others.

Voter registration is as follows:
90% of Muslims, 90% Christians and 60% Hindus and 90% Others.
This means:
out of 100 people, 42 Hindus, 14 Muslims, 7 Christians and 6 'Others' will Register for vote.

Now, interesting point
Out of the registered voters having voter ID or at least having interest in selecting their representative.
Have a look at the number of turnouts:
50% Hindus will vote, 90% Muslims will vote, 90% Christians will vote and 90% others will vote.
this means:
Ultimately 21 Hindus will vote, 13 Muslims will vote, 6 Christians and 5 'Others' will vote during election and these 45 (45%) people are responsible for selecting the representative and deciding the future of our dear Great mother land (India!!!)

now see Out of these 45 people of total population who votes for whom!
It is highly likely that out of 13 Muslims, 10 will vote for Congress,
Out of 6 Christians, 5 will vote for Congress and
out of 5 others, 3 will vote for congress.
it means:
Congress will get 18 non Hindu votes, BJP may get 1 Muslim or Christian and 1 others vote.
So what BJP has got? BJP has got 2 non Hindu votes!
Other parties, that are third front, may get 2 Muslim or Christian and 1 vote from others.
That is, 'Others' may get 3 non Hindu votes.

***Very important!******
Coming to Hindu votes:
now Out of 21 Hindus.
If 5 vote for Congress, 10 vote for BJP and 6 vote for other parties
*****Final result will be:******:
Congress 23 votes, BJP 12 votes, other parties will get 9 votes.

This has been the trend since 1990, therefore, Congress do not bother for
Hindu votes!!!!

Congress loses in States where the Muslims do not vote for them.

If Congress scares minority from majority, which is easy in the name of burka "secularism", their 90% work is done....and they have been doing so religiously..

It is highly likely that the trend will continue and may vary by few percent
and the Congress will remain in Power, as minority population increases, for
the next 100 years..

So what is the Mantra to thrash congress? and defeat Islamic Terrorism?
1. Register yourself for Voter ID;
2. Get the Voter ID as soon as possible;
3. Do not go for picnick and picture during election day;
4. Vote for nationalist and patriotic leader like Narendra Modi on election day;
5. Islamic terrorism is growing rapidly and soon enter into india with a bang! if we will celebrate the picknic and go for picture on election day, our children will not be alive to celebrate all these nice moments!

our Dear mother land is calling us, vote this time, and save it from Jihad!

Just copy and paste on your timeline!Share it with as many as people you can!

Vote Bank politics of minority appeasement because Hindus are too much divided.

The Archaeological Department of India says that the passage to the basement has been closed from the time of Shah Jahan, who erected Taj Mahal and entry to that is prohibited. Why? Needs to go for legal help, what is there after all which has been kept hidden from the people?

The Devil's Mind II:"The Bomb and Civilization"

On August 6th 1945 the Japanese city of Hiroshima suffered an atomic bombing by the United States during the final stages of World War II:

"It is impossible to imagine a more dramatic and horrifying combination of scientific triumph with political and moral failure than has been shown to the world in the destruction of Hiroshima. From the scientific point of view, the atomic bomb embodies the results of a combination of genius and patience as remarkable as any in the history of mankind.

One is tempted to feel that Man is being punished, through the agency of his own evil passions, for impiety in inquiring too closely into the hidden secrets of nature. But such a feeling is unduly defeatist. Science is capable of conferring enormous boons: it can lighten labour, abolish poverty, and enormously diminish disease.

But if science is to bring benefits instead of death, we must bring to bear upon social, and especially international, organization, intelligence of the same high order that has enabled us to discover the structure of the atom. To do this effectively we must free ourselves from the domination of ancient shibboleths, and think freely, fearlessly and rationally about the new and appalling problems with which the human race is confronted by its conquest of scientific power."
- Bertrand Russell "The Bomb and Civilization" (1945). Russell's first anti-nuclear writing.

World War II is the story of the 20th Century. The war officially lasted from 1939 until 1945, but the causes of the conflict and its horrible aftermath reverberated for decades in either direction. While feats of bravery and technological breakthroughs still inspire awe today, the majority of the war was dominated by unimaginable misery and destruction. In the late 1930s, the world's population was approximately 2 billion. In less than a decade, the war between the nations of the Axis Powers and the Allies resulted in some 80 million deaths -- killing off about 4 percent of the whole world.

The Victory we Ignored

Why's there no media coverage of this inspiring victory , is it because this was not cricket? Here is a heroic tale of our underpriviledged girls, who made us proud despite all odds.

Two weeks back, as a billion plus India slept, a handful of Jharkhand tribal girls proudly held aloft a trophy they won in their *maiden entry* in a football tournament in far-flung Spain.

They were the same girls who were slapped, kicked and made to sweep floors by arrogant bureaucrats in Jharkhand when the girls asked for birth certificates, a necessity to apply for passports.

It was the night of July 13. Hundreds of fire crackers lit the skies as the girls screamed Vande Mataram – their battle cry – for being placed third in the Gasteiz Cup, the world’s best testing ground for teenager football in Victoria Gastiez.

The girls were lovingly titled 'The Supergoats' by the organizers in Spain the moment they saw the girls playing barefoot in practice matches on arrival.
Why? Because the girls had limited football gear and could not take the risk of tampering it before the tournament. They were overawed by international teams in the first tournament, the Donosti Cup, but came to their own in the second tournament.

Offering a consolation prize for the third team – winner of a match between losing semi-finalists – was a mere formality for the organizers. But for the girls, it was a giant leap into global soccer from their impoverished Rukka village near Ranchi, considered one of the world’s epicenters of child marriage and human trafficking.

As soon as the announcement was made for the prize distribution ceremony, the girls rushed into their dressing room and returned, some barefoot, wearing red-bordered white saris, their traditional festive dress. Many had their plastic flowers in their hairs.

And when they huddled together after the mandatory photo session, some wept inconsolably because they had almost given up their hopes to participate in this tournament.
All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Praful Patel was not aware of the girls’ superlative achievement, nor was the country’s new sports minister Jitendra Singh.

“We could not sleep that night (July 13),” says Rinky Kumari, 13, captain of Supergoats. Once she bunked her school helped her mother do household chores. Today, thanks to football, everyone knows her name in the village.

She says she remembered the days she was slapped and sweep floors when she went to the Panchayat Office get birth certificates for her passport.
“ I do not remember the slap, I remember the Cup,” says Rinky. For her, and her teammates, it means a lot.
